How do growing populist movements impact the way migrants are included, or excluded, in our societies? And how can we bridge the gap between academic knowledge and lived experience? At this year’s congress of the Radboud University Network on Migrant Inclusion (RUNOMI), we bring together scholars and societal actors to explore this urgent theme. With keynote speeches by Nadia Bouras (Leiden University) and multimedia artist and author Mounir Samuel, and contributions from RUNOMI researchers across disciplines - including Jeanine Suurmond (Professor of Inclusive person-centered care for vulnerable citizens), Andrej Zaslove (Associate professor, empirical political science), and Niels Spierings (Professor of Sociology: processes of inclusion and exclusion).
We will examine the intersections of populism, migration, and inclusion. Societal organizations like Represent Yourself and Open Embassy will respond to academic findings with reflections from their experiences. How do these insights resonate in practice? Where are the gaps, and where can we collaborate? In an age where exclusion and division dominate headlines, this congress invites you to step into conversation. Whether you are a researcher, student, policymaker, or practitioner: do not miss your chance to be part of it! Participation is free. Register now.
