Cà Foscari University of Venice joins the IMISCOE Network

Cà Foscari - Social Innovation research team during one of the plenary sessions in Venice

During the 15th Annual Conference in Barcelona, the Board of Directors officially welcomed Cà Foscari University of Venice as new IMISCOE member. Ca' Foscari University of Venice, established in 1868 as Royal Business College, was the first of its kind in ltaly.

Today, it is recognized as one of the best universities in the country offering its students diverse and ample study programmes in the following areas: Humanities, Foreign Languages, Economics and Business, Environmental Sciences, Information Technologies, Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems, Social, Economic and Environmental Sustainability. Ca' Foscari is organised into 8 Departments carrying out both research and teaching, and 6 interdepartmental Schools and a Graduate School offering a selection of multidisciplinary courses, summer courses and international exchanges, high level education and doctorate research programmes.

The application process to the IMISCOE community has been conceived and finalized by the Social Innovation Research Team, an inter-departmental research team which gathers more than 60 scholars based at Ca’ Foscari. The Team is coordinated by Prof. Sabrina Marchetti (sociologist), Prof. Stefano Campostrini (statistician) and Dr. Pier Paolo Pentucci (research manager). This large group of scholars carries on, individually or in sub-groups, research projects on topics variously related to issues of migration, such as: inclusion and justice, ageing and demographic change, citizenship, identities, behavioral and health economics, intercultural relations and education policies, gender equality, long-term care, policy evaluation, smart cities and communities and social innovation in general. The aim of the research team is to promote new projects at the level of national and international competitive networks, as well as favor connections between academics and external stakeholders, regional and local authorities, funding bodies and research institutions. Cà Foscari has delegated Prof. Francesca Campomori to represent Cà Foscari in the IMISCOE Board of Directors. Francesca Campomori is Phd in Political Science and her research’s interests are related to immigrant integration policies, especially at the local level. In the last few years she also studied asylum seeker reception in Italy, including the emerging of (still fragile) social innovative practices of post-reception. She is a member of the editorial advisory board of the journal Mondi Migranti and of the network ESPANET Italia.
